San José | Arenal | Punta Leona

Depart home and arrive in Juan Santamaria International Airport, San Jose. After clearing customs and immigration, meet your KIconcerts Tour Manager and board the bus for the orientation tour of San Jose. Vibrant and packed with Victorian mansions, San Jose sits in the beautiful Central Valley region with the Talamanca Mountains to the south and volcanoes to the north. The city is distinguished by its Spanish colonial buildings, like the ornate, neoclassical National Theatre of Costa Rica overlooking downtown’s Plaza de la Cultura, a popular gathering spot. Below the plaza, the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum displays hundreds of gleaming artifacts. Check into your hotel in time for the first of your delicious Costa Rican dinners. Overnight San Jose

After sampling the hot and cold breakfast buffet (offered daily), we board our bus for a visit to Irazu Volcano National Park. The Irazu Volcano, still active, last made international headlines when it erupted in 1963 on the day that former US President John F. Kennedy visited the country. The eruption decimated crops in the area but left the soil enriched for decades to come. The last noticeable activity came in 1996, and since then Irazu has been a quiet giant. Reaching upward of 11,260 ft (3,432 m), Irazu is the tallest and most energetic volcano in Costa Rica. Its huge crater is surrounded by a moonscape and it has a small lagoon at the bottom. We return to stage the first of our Costa Rican CONCERTS. Overnight San Jose

After checking out, you will board our bus and travel to the city of Arenal. Zip lining through the rain forest canopy, walking across the hanging bridges accompanied by a naturalist guide who will introduce you to a vast variety of animals, birds, and flowers or horseback riding are amongst the options offered this afternoon. Overnight Arenal

After another delicious breakfast you will go on a guided walking tour to La Fortuna Waterfall. Walk through the rain forest gazing in awe at the waterfall, cascading from 200 feet above. The falls emerge from a thick jungle before plummeting into an emerald green pool below where you can enjoy a swim. You will return to your hotel with enough time to prepare for your second CONCERT. Overnight Arenal

After checking out, your tour bus will transfer you to Punta Leona which is located on the gorgeous Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Here lies the important nature reserve of Punta Leona in the Puntarenas province. This reserve is one of the most vital in Costa Rica’s Pacific coastal region both from a geographical and conservation point of view. CONCERT. Check in to your hotel. Overnight Punta Leona

Awakening to another beautiful day in paradise, you will start a guided tour of Manuel Antonio National Park. The park contains three beautiful, pristine beaches, casual forest trails, and a dense rainforest teaming with animal life. You will be guided along the natural trails in the park taking you to the interior of the forest to observe the variety of flora and fauna, including white-faced capuchin monkeys, raccoons and a diverse species of birds. Overnight Punta Leona

Today, we will travel back to San José. While en route you will visit the country’s most famous artisan town. As Costa Rica’s most well-known crafts center, Sarchi is famous for its colorfully painted oxcarts and oxen yokes – national symbols of Costa Rican folklore and traditions. Not too long ago wooden carts pulled by a pair of oxen were the main mode of transportation in the mountainous country, especially to transport coffee beans to markets. See this amazing work, wood accessories and sculptures, being made before your eyes, CONCERT, Overnight San José
