Led by Dr. Pearl Shangkuan and Dr. Dan Forrest, this choral experience celebrates the joy of the process of creating music, as well as the beauty that surrounds and connects us all. Rooted in themes of collaboration, artistry, and shared expression, the festival invites ensembles to embrace the emotional depth and spiritual richness of their music, creating an environment where every voice contributes to something greater—a living harmony of people, place, and the process of making music.
From the sails of the Opera House to the peaceful calls of native wildlife at Taronga Zoo, Sydney is where culture and nature meet in perfect balance. Between unforgettable performances, coastal adventures, and immersive extension options in Brisbane or Melbourne, your ensemble will experience the joy of singing in one of the world’s most iconic cities—surrounded by beauty, inside and out.

Dear Friends,
We are delighted to invite you to our 2027 Australia Choral Festival!
Our collaborations as a conductor-composer duo are known worldwide for their musical excellence and their deeply inspiring experiences for participants. Therefore, we’re thrilled to offer this opportunity on an entirely new continent: Australia.
Vibrant cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes and wildlife, as well as iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House make the “Land Down Under” an endlessly inspiring festival destination!
This festival is designed for high school through adult choristers. There will be opportunities for your choir to perform individual concerts in addition to joining the festival choir for the Gala Concert at the Sydney Opera House (subject to availability) or the renowned Sydney Town Hall. Our combined expertise will inspire choristers of all ages to connect deeply with the expressive heart of the repertoire.
The festival offers several optional extensions to other cities around Australia, so your choir can experience the Great Barrier Reef, explore a wildlife sanctuary near Brisbane, traverse the landscapes of Melbourne’s beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens, and much more!
We hope you’ll consider this opportunity for your choir that will be a wonderful lifelong memory for all participants!
Best regards,
Dr. Pearl Shangkuan
